Feedback
Our English course was pretty nice and the timing was convenient when we moved on to new topics. I improved my vocabulary a lot and I also learned some new things when it comes to grammar. In my opinion this blogging thing was a little harsh because I'm usually quite buzy during the school week and I don't have too much time for sitting in front of the computer. Besides I hate writing with computer for I get a headache and my shoulders begin to hurt. Anyway I got my texts ready and I also wish that people like to read them. I think I raised my hand enough during the lessons and showed my English skills. The atmosphere was really relaxed and our teacher's also quite easy-going and kind, too. I hope the test will go well!
What's Your Number? - book
How many men does is take to find true love? Or is it even possible to put a number on love? Those tricky questions are about to clear up, when the book's protagonist Delilah Darling decides to get rid of her single status. As I started reading this book it really engrossed me from the first page! The humourous description and dictions made me laugh and smirk in a crazy way so it's kind of risky to read it in a public place.
Anyway Delilah is a 29-year-old New Yorker, who works in a company called Elisabeth Sterling Desing, that designs and manufactures household products. However she's suddenly laid off from her prestigious job, partially because of her irritating boss and her focusing problem, which she herself calls a mild case of undiagnosed ADD. The thing is that she can, for example, simultaneously play the computer, read magazines, instant message multiple people, paint her nails, talk on the phone and work better than anyone else (or so she alleges). But the real issue is that Delilah finds it very hard to settle down with a guy. She has been in many different kinds of relationships during her life, including all those one-night stands and high school boyfriends, but none of the guys just has seemed to be the Mr.Right. One day she reads in a magazine that the average person has 10,5 sexual partners in their lifetime and almost has a heart attack. That's because her own number is 20! Oops...
Delilah has a youngest sister called Daisy, who is already getting married, so her mother is trying to put pressure on her and over-reacts to her oldest daughter's behaviour. The article on the magazine also said that women who are over 30 and have slept with over 10.5 partners usually do not get married. As a crazy neurotic blond, Delilah freaks out and decides that twenty would be her limit. No more men until she has found The One. No more, not ever! So the only thing she can do is make a list of the old boyfriends with whom she has slept and go on a loooong roadtrip back to the beginning and revisit all those past lovers in hope that some of them have changed. Could she really have missed the Love of Her Life without realizing it?
The plan is really challenging, but luckily she gets help from her cute Irish neighbour, Colin, who works as her private investigator. Delilah and Colin seem to have a lot in common but it really disturbs me that Delilah just ignores all the sweet little things Colin does. He is also described as very good-looking and muscular. So with Colin's help our heroine gets essential irformation about her ex-boyfriends, then she rents a car and travels cross-country to find each and every man she has slept with who was not married or dead. During her trip she also buys a lovely little dog that she carries around in a pink bag.
Delilah's adventure leads to many surprising places, such as the Substance Abuse Treatment Center (rehab) and from NYC all the way down to LA. Despite all the disappointments she goes through while travelling, Delilah finds the meaning of life again. If you don’t get married, it is not the end of the world, though she keeps reminding herself about her number and eventually reaches the goal she was aiming for. The book teaches every woman when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes numbers tell only a fraction of the story.
I enjoyed reading this novel for I could identify myself with the main character and I think the length of the book was also eligible. What's Your Number was previously published as Twenty Times a Lady (2006) and there's also a movie based on the novel. The author Karyn Bosnak has published two books in all, including this one, and I think her way to write is suitable feral but still interesting. I have also seen the movie, but compared to the book it wasn't that good even though it had its hilarious moments too. This book is something that makes you laugh over and over again and the tiny details allure you to read it afresh. I recommend this book to everyone who likes comedy and adventures and doesn't take life too seriously!

A thank you speech
So, here I am, standing in front of millions of people, my whole body's shaking and I still can't realize that one of my biggest dreams has just become true. To be a leading actor is intrinsically an enormous honour, but to win an Oscar! What can I say, this is just so amazing! When I think about myself a few years ago,I had no idea what to do with my life. Seriously. I was studying in upper secondary school and considering a profession as a psychologist or an architect but nothing special really inspired me. I couldn't find right way how to express my feelings and opinions and that was frustrating,I can tell you. At that time I was also quite insecure and reserved. However, I had always known that I'm really good at listening my friends' problems and I deeply understood their feelings, like I actually would have taken a new role and felt exactly the same way. When I was looking for the real me I changed my look many many times: red, brown, orange, yellow or blonde hair, punker,rocker,hippie,boho-chic or hip-hop style...you name it, I've done it. That's when I noticed acting is something that brings thrill to my life. It doesn't mean I can't be myself, it's just a fun way to astonish people. But I never would have found myself without help from my lovely friends, with whom I have shared many important moments during my life. They taught me to be strong and not to care about what other people think. The best choice I've made in school has been the theatre course I attended to in my senior year. I want to thank my skilled teacher, who gave me some useful advice, and I'm glad everyone in that course took me really seriously when we worked together. Either, I wouldn't be here without huge support from my dear boyfriend, who has never let me down. He's the one who always believed in me despite my failures. Of course I have to thank my parents, for they have been reminding me to do something that feels good and to be ambitious. I appreciate the people who give me feedback, positive or negative, but the most rewarding is to notice that people really enjoy watching my movies and learn something new about them. It's just best to hear that some of them are my actual fans! That's when you know you have done something right and it's the best feeling I can get. So thank you all and I swear this trophy will not be my last one!
Indie rock - my kind of music
It makes me feel better when I'm feeling down. It gives me power during my workout. It reminds me of many special moments I've experienced. It just makes me want to dance all night! That's indie rock.
The genre was initially originated in the United Kindom and the United States in the 1980s. There are so many types of indie rock, which in my opinion makes the genre quite interesting, but the stylistic origins are more like punk rock, New Wave, post-punk and alternative rock. Indie rock has gained a huge commercial succes especially in the 2000s and the number of all the indie rock bands is continuously growing. That's pretty awesome actually because there are so many different kinds of options to choose. Indie rock usually includes small and relatively low-budget labels and the bands often have so called "do-it-yourself" attitude. Of course when it comes to bigger names distribution deals are often struck with major corporate companies.
Typical intruments for this genre are guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals but the influences and styles of the artists can be extremely diverse, including punk, psychedelia, rock and country. I think that nothing's better than a brisk drum comping combined with a loud quitar solo while some guy is singing with a cute British accent shaking his head up and down and waving his laid-back curly hair. So I think the best indie rock bands come definitely from the UK and I also prefer the male vocalists who can make a very good impression with their individual voices. I don't know what is it but I just love the way how the British speak! If I had to name a few bands that are my absolute favorites I would say The Kooks, The Artic Monkeys,The Maccabees,Coldplay and The Ting Tings.
My music taste is anything but confined but indie rock beats all the other genres when it comes to the lyrics and the melody. I like to listen to the words so that I'll get the right atmosphere of the song. Music helps me concentrate so that's why I like to listen to it while I'm doing my homework. When I can't sleep I tend to listen to peaceful songs from The Maccabees and when I'm feeling energetic and wild I jam with The Artic Monkeys. Sometimes when I miss someone, music is the only thing that helps me to get through it. But at the same time it reminds me of the great times I've spent with people I love and takes me back to the most important moments of my life. Indie rock is the right genre for me because it's miscellaneous, surprising, outgoing and energetic - just like me.

Missing you
There are no good options, I only know,
it's the time when you just have to go
A deep silence comes and we no longer talk,
I see your shadow on the apshalt when you walk
Without you I feel so cold,
it's like every story has been told
Your soft lips and happy voice,
sometimes even death sounds like a better choice
Time goes slowely, I let my thoughts wander,
my feelings are upside down like thunder
Every second minute I check my phone,
I only want you to play my ringtone
I can't stand another night,
when I know you don't come in sight
The distance kills me when we're not in the same place,
my only wish is just to see your face
This is so damn hard for me and it makes me upset,
but when we see again it's the loveliest thing I can ever get!
it's the time when you just have to go
A deep silence comes and we no longer talk,
I see your shadow on the apshalt when you walk
Without you I feel so cold,
it's like every story has been told
Your soft lips and happy voice,

Friends with Benefits
The movie I watched last weekend is called Friends with Benefits(with a funny Finnish translation "Vain seksiä")and it totally made me a very good impression! It was directed by Will Gluck in 2011 and represents the good old romantic comedy genre. But the fact is this movie does really avoid those typical clichés of Hollywood comedies. The leading actors, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake, bring with their genuine personalities and jokes lots of surprising moments into the movie, making people really notice their connection. Friends with Benefits was also nominated for the best comedy in People's choice awards.
The plot revolves around Dylan(Timberlake)and Jamie(Kunis), who meet in New York City and because of all their earlier miserable relationships both of them have decided to quit serious dating. Jamie is an executive recruiter for a leading job agency and from the very beginning her task is to recruit Dylan, who works as an art director, to interview for a job with GQ magazine. Dylan lives in Los Angeles so at first he isn't quite sure about moving to New York and taking a huge step in his life. However Jamie spends time with Dylan taking him around the city trying to sell him the opportunity and finally Dylan agrees to take the job. They become good friends but over time both of them start feeling a need for a physical connection and after a fun evening together they agree to have sex without emotions and commitments."Sex is like playing tennis", said Dylan to Jamie so that the idea wouldn't have sounded so bad. Nevertheless, after several trysts together Jamie notices that this isn't what she really wants and tells Dylan they need to stop. The hopeful couple decides to start dating other people again.Consequently it turns out that naively adding sex to a friendship will lead to some complications...
After seeing the movie I began to wonder how lucky I really am to have so many good friends and especially a lovely boyfriend, with whom I can always share my thoughts and troubles. The movie taught me finding a true love isn't that easy but you should never give up. In my opinion it was quite effortless to follow the movie and I actually found it very thrilling because you could never foresee what was happening next.
I recommend Friends with Benefits to young people who are not afraid of obscene humour and like to watch romantic dramas(so called girls' movies),but it also makes guys laugh too! The purpose of the movie is to remind people not to waste a second in their lives and do what their heart says.Okay, I have to admit, still quite a cliché.
